DISH Sponsor Cedarbarn Farm Shop Race Night for Macmillan Cancer Support

We’re so happy to support Cedarbarn Farm Shop & Cafe and their Race Night on 9th March raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The Karl’s Ride Of Their Lives campaign are hoping to raise £25,000 for Macmillan as part of Karlos Dettori’s fundraising journey to train as a jockey and compete in a race at York Racecourse. 

On June 15th 2024, Karl will make history, becoming the first person in the UK’s biggest charity raceday’s history to compete in the race for a second time. Karl also competed in the race in 2019 and raised over £20,000 in memory of his father, Colin Avison. Colin passed away in 2006 from a rare and aggressive brain tumour. 

Karl said: “The 2019 Ride of Their Lives was the most exhilarating and exciting experience of my life, so to have the opportunity to repeat it and raise even more money for Macmillan Cancer Support, will be a great way to celebrate being clear of cancer.”

Karl recovered from Prostate Cancer in 2023. He went on to say:

“Experiencing cancer has changed my thoughts on life. I would like to give back what I have been given (life, quite literally) and the ride is the perfect way to do it. Wish me luck and please support us if you can.”

DISH Hospitality Recruitment have gladly sponsored three races in Cedarbarn’s now sold out Race Night. Ticket holders can place bets and enjoy an Aberdeen Angus steak pie and chunky chip dinner whilst watching the eight races on the big screen. It looks to be an exciting night with money raised for an amazing cause!
